Founded in 1930 at the instigation of the British Government the British Compressed Air Society is the only UK Technical Trade Association open to manufacturers, distributors and end users of compressed air products, portable air compressors and services. The Society actively represents the interests of members and the compressed air industry to United Kingdom Government, European and overseas Institutions.

CHAS (The Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme) was created by experienced health and safety professionals in 1997 to improve health and safety standards across the UK. More specifically the health and safety legislation was created to achieve the following aims:
